Nominations open for 2019 Canadian Mortgage Awards

Nominations are now open for the 13th annual Canadian Mortgage Awards (CMAs), the longest-running independent awards event for the Canadian mortgage sector.

Organised by the publishers of industry-leading titles Canadian Mortgage Professional and Mortgage Broker News in partnership with the Coalition of Independent Mortgage Brokers of Canada (CIMBC), the CMAs is the benchmark for recognition of excellence for the nation’s mortgage high-fliers.

Awards will be given out across 22 categories, all of which recognize the top-performing mortgage professionals, brokers and lenders in Canada. Among the broad range of categories are the hotly contested Brokerage of the Year, New Brokerage of the Year, Broker of the Year, and the CIMBC Award for Lender BDM of the Year.

“Through peer recognition, these top achievers represent our most experienced, and brightest new, mortgage brokers and exemplars in the lending industry,” said CIMBC President Robert Sinclair. “Being nominated by peers for a CMA is important and valuable to the nominees, as our CIMBC members have expressed.”

For the award recipients themselves, receiving a CMA trophy in front of hundreds of their industry peers is a career highlight that leaves a lasting impact. James Loewen of Loewen Group who won Broker of the Year in 2015, Brokerage of the Year in 2016, then Best Customer Service from an Individual Office in 2017 – enthused:

“Those are three of the highest distinctions you can win in the industry. Our focus on the brokerage, teamwork and experience, and client experience led us to want to refine the experience and helped us get the customer service award. It’s amazing to be able to bring [the trophy] back to the office. We have it displayed for each team member to see every day for each of their efforts. It’s nice to have something tangible to show for our work.”

The CMAs follows a comprehensive selection process, involving three months of nominations, industry research and finalist submissions in the lead up to the night itself. A judging panel comprising independent experts and thought leaders in the mortgage, finance and real estate industries determines the award winners.

Winners will be revealed live during the black-tie awards ceremony on April 26, 2019 in The Liberty Grand Toronto.

Nominations are open until February 4, 2019. The full list of categories is available at www.canadianmortgageawards.com.
